2022 Mission Festival
January 16th, Rev. Herb Schumm presented during Bible Study time on behalf of the Lutheran Heritage Foundation (LHF) at Trinity's 2022 Mission Festival. He then preached during Divine Service and the congregation enjoyed a potluck lunch afterward with Pastor Schumm and his wife.
Pastor Schumm mentioned in his presentation that LHF is working in more than 80 countries and 100 languages. Thousands of people have come to faith in Christ because they’ve been able to read books like Luther’s Small Catechism, A Child's Garden of Bible Stories, and The Good News About Jesus in their own languages. LHF has published the catechism in more than 90 languages with dozens more requested. In the past decade, LHF has published and distributed 1,200+ titles and 3 million Lutheran books to pastors, seminary students, missionaries and churches – all at no cost to them. For about a $5 donation you can help produce one of these titles. |

How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? - Romans 10:14
2020 Mission Festival
Our congregation hosted 3 missionaries on January 25-26. Rev. Delwyn Campbell spoke in the Saturday morning session on his work in Gary, Indiana. He has the pleasure of serving God's people in Gary at St. John's Lutheran Church and Ascension Lutheran Christian School and also at the Lydia House (Rebuilding the Breach Ministries).
After a potluck lunch, Tirzah Krey, RN spoke of her eminent departure to the Dominican Republic. Her special missionary role in the Latin America region will include supporting other field missionaries physically, emotionally, and spiritually. She will also have opportunities to tell others of Jesus while providing health education in schools and other venues. On Sunday, Rev. Charles Ferry, the LCMS Asia Regional Director, gave a presentation during Bible study before Service. He talked about the challenges and opportunities to the spreading the Gospel in Asia. Schools like Concordia Taiwan, Concordia Hanoi, and Concordia Shanghai are wonderful examples of opportunities to do this. Then we were blessed to have him be our guest preacher before enjoying a congregational potluck lunch in the basement. Following that meal Rev. Ferry gave another presentation on everything happening with LCMS Asian missions. Although based in Taiwan, Rev. Ferry is responsible for LCMS work, personnel, and relationships in 20 Asian countries. He also works to strengthen partner churches through theological education, translation, and mercy projects. In addition, he provides Word & Sacrament ministry and pastoral care to geographically separated Lutherans. We were encouraged and uplifted by the stories of new Christians in places like Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, and Cambodia who are enthusiastically hearing the Word of Christ and sharing it with others. If you want to find out more information on any of these missionaries, just click on link associated with their name above. Each of those pages has a button to Give Now in case you want to donate. Please remember all LCMS missionaries are 100% funded by personal donations. Additional LCMS missionary information can be located at the LCMS Missionary page or you can adopt a LCMS missionary at Mission Central. Finally, we recall our Lord's words in Luke 10:2, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest." So please keep these three missionaries and all who spread the Good News of Jesus Christ here at home and abroad in your daily prayers. If you want to be a part of the next Mission Festival please contact Pastor McKinley. "Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:16-20
